Sound Off [Page 2]

"This is a ridiculous proposal! As a resident of New Jersey, I resent that a warehouse construction is considered more important than a safe, clean environment for children and families. I am sure you can find another spot for this warehouse. There is quite a bit of open space in this area-let children be able to have a great summer at a wonderful summer camp!"
-Renee F.

"This type of development is so out of hand. The environmental impact is not the only consideration that should be weighed. The historical use of the surrounding property is crucial to maintain when it effects other business and recreational opportunities for the residents of Columbus. Please keep this project from happening to ensure the future enjoyment for thousands of Liberty Lake fans.”
-Alan P.

"My son has attended Liberty Lake for five years. We love the camp, the environment, the beautiful nature around it. Please don't destroy this."
-Stephanie F.

"Don't really want a load of trucks and truck drivers right next to the camp!! And we don't need truck traffic right next to the camp. There are enough accidents on the road just outside of the camp…this will only cause more."
-Doreen L.

"How sad and short-sighted is this-anything for a buck. Once we destroy the countryside and sabotage the safety and beauty of Liberty Lake, we will never be able to completely reverse the damage that is being done to line the pockets of a few. As Joni Mitchell sang so many years ago, we are still paving paradise to put up a parking lot.”
-Claudia C.

“We are 100% opposed to the plan to build a warehouse next to Liberty Lake. It is absolutely the wrong location.”
-Debbie & Sean F.

"With the economy in the state that it is and businesses going out of business along with all the empty warehouse space we already have, I have to ask why? No one could possibly make money off of an empty warehouse."
-Cheryl R.

"Liberty Lake has been a tremendous asset to the community, and the owners have spent several years making it into one of the finest camps in NJ. To destroy the surroundings by placing a warehouse directly adjacent is unthinkable. Aside from the aesthetics of having a huge, bulky building looming over Liberty Lake, the noise of the truck traffic will be completely disruptive."
-Leslie W.

"I live in Cranbury and there are many vacant warehouses available here. To build a new one so close to Cranbury is not necessary. Also, due to the number of warehouses, Cranbury must provide affordable housing (due to COAH) that the township cannot afford. Mansfield Township voters need to know, if they allow this huge warehouse, they will have to accept COAH housing at some point down the road. This is expensive and puts a huge strain on the schools and other township services."
-Sandra B.

"This is a terrible idea! Is nothing sacred anymore? Liberty Lake is such a jewel. You have my support to stop this construction."
-Teri H.

"I am NOT supportive of the warehouse development project that borders the Liberty Lake property. My kids attend this camp and I'm a resident of Columbus and am concerned about the potential negative environmental impact, the safety of my children and the overall impact on the community."
-Chris D.

"I have been attending and working at Liberty Lake Day Camp for 6 years. I have experienced and witnessed how much of a positive impact camp has on kids. I don't want to have a warehouse tarnish that."
-Leanne S.

"As a camp director for the past 17 years, I have personally seen the difference camp has made in the lives of thousands of kids, staff, parents and families. Camps provide children with a safe haven to play, make friends and build relationships that can last a lifetime. I would hate to see the atmosphere that Liberty Lake has spent years creating be ruined by warehouses and the like. It would interfere with hundreds of kids and their families."
-Charles M.

"The proposed warehouse and bridge would not only be an ugly intrusion to this beautiful area but would negatively impact the environment, polluting the air, water, and soil for all who use and enjoy this precious resource and surrounding areas. With so much of NJ being built up it is vital that such wonderful and limited resources be protected. Why destroy such an important area that benefits so many when surely there is more than enough warehouse space available? It is time to take the long view and protect such an important treasure."
-Amy T.

"Liberty Lake is a place where children and adults alike learn about themselves and others. Thousands of kids, over the past 8 summers, have found Liberty Lake to be the safe haven they can't normally fund anywhere else. It is a place where they find themselves, understanding of others and learn about the world around them. To place a 900,000 square foot warehouse, right next door to the environment of change in so many kids lives, is more detrimental than you could ever dream! We will do whatever we can to save Liberty Lake and preserve it as it is now...a place where thousands of children, teen and adults will change their life in a summer, for many years to come."
-Brandie L.

"The proposed warehouse plan is nota good idea for the camp, for the environment, and most importantly for the children. The goal of bringing in rateables for Mansfield by permitting this warehouse is short-sighted and will be a bad decision in the long-run. Liberty Lake Day Camp is one of the last remaining open spaces where children are not exposed to dangerous chemicals and pollutants; erecting this warehouse will severely compromise this."
-Angela S.

“This is not the place a warehouse should be built. Burlington County is known for its country setting and rural atmosphere, a warehouse this size does not belong behind a camp that has taken such care to preserve the beautiful land and lake, creating a scenic view and natural environment that our kids so enjoy.”
-Nancy T.

"Protected wetlands means just that, regardless of an economy that is in a recession. To change variances to meet our financial needs during times of economic need is a slippery slope that is best avoided if we are to save what little remains of the natural resources left in our county let alone New Jersey. Plus, there is a camp full of children in close proximity to the proposed warehouse and the safety implications of trucks entering and exiting the facility cannot be ignored. LLDC should not be treated with such disregard given the valuable experiences it gives to our youth at a time when our youth need safe places that give them opportunities to learn coping skills and positive values. Stop the warehouse and look for other locations that will not disturb the wetlands or the camp."
-Catherine F.

"We don't understand how corporate America can justify what they are doing to our precious wet lands and animals. We hope that Liberty Lake is around for a long, long time. My son was a camper for 2 years and now he is a counselor. We don't know of any other camp like it in New Jersey. My son always felt safe at this camp and he really enjoyed himself. We think all children should be able to attend a clean, beautiful, fun, and well protected camp every year. Please keep me informed as to the progress of this. I am very sad. : ( "
-Debbie and Gary P.

"There are only a few spots left that kids can enjoy being kids. Why does everything need to be about money. What is ending up going to happen is that they will build this big eyesore and then no one will use it. The only people that are going to get hurt by this whole thing are the kids and families. We enjoy going to the lake and feeling like we are truly on a vacation for the day with the clean air and open spaces. Who wants to look at a huge building?”
-Jennifer M.

"Liberty Lake Day Camp is a great camp that has a positive impact on the development of children. I send my nieces and nephews there and it is a wonderful experience for them. They learn so much and have so much fun. It is a wonderful camp that I consider to be a safe and fun environment for my family to learn and grow within. I do not support the building of a warehouse facility so close to a day camp. I will be contacting my representative in an effort to stop this from happening.”
-Kathleen S.
